I have something quite wonderful to tell you

The best news of the year

The dragon is secretly human!

I just learned this yesterday. This is huge.

And guess what? Not only is the dragon secretly human, she’s also willing to transform. She’s trusting me (and herself) enough to try it more often. It’s hard work, but it’s a necessary transformation.

We went from fire-breathing torture to peaceful human conversation quite suddenly this week, thanks to the excellent work of the dragon whisperer.

And that was just one day…

Because the rest of this week was utterly, absurdly, unendingly long and tiring and full and crazy-making. As if one tiny meeting with the dragon whisperer hadn’t already filled the week with too-much-ness? There was a veritable avalanche of things to do, now, yesterday, ohmygod nownownow.

It just didn’t stop. It was so perfect when Havi called a preemptive Friday chicken on Thursday, I laughed and thought yes.

And now it’s suddenly Friday for real.

And Mercury went retrograde this morning, and suddenly my calendar cleared and I breathed a big sigh of relief. This is possibly the most Friday of Fridays, ever, of all time.

What a week. Goodbye, week. I’m so ready to say goodbye.

Because this weekend is all about some Holiday Ease on Sunday with Larisa. It’s all about Shiva Nata. It’s possibly all about tromping around in the woods to find a tree. It’s all about extra ease built in. Ease you forgot you’d planned for and suddenly it sneaks up on you like a wonderful warm nap.

I hope your Friday is something like this — the kind of giddiness that steals up on you and tickles your feet and makes you want to curl up and laugh yourself to sleep. That’s what today is like for me.

Here’s to human-dragon hybrids. To flailing. To the utter bare vulnerability of being a human, in the absolute best of ways. Here’s to the week that was so much, all at once, and is now free to be over for as long as it likes.
